BACKGROUND:
Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) reporting and sustainability initiatives have gained a lot of traction in recent years. There is growing awareness among consumers, employees, and other stakeholders of the impact that companies have on society and the environment, and many people want to support companies that align with their values and are committed to sustainability and social responsibility. In fact, a study by the Global Strategy Group found that 86% of Americans believe companies should take action to address environmental issues, and 64% believe that companies have a responsibility to do so.

We chose to act and serve as a model for others to follow within the rapidly growing industry of urban, rescued, salvaged and deconstructed wood. While we seek and embrace collaboration with like-minded partners across the United States, we follow a strong philosophy of leading by example.
Since our early beginnings in 2017 as a part-time operated business, we have grown to become the largest urban sawmill in Texas with 4 full-time employees and over 215,00 square feet in property space.
As of the end of 2022, our practices across Texas to save and repurpose trees have resulted in a carbon storage savings of over 445,000 lbs of CO2 which is a savings equivalent to:
>22,699 gallons of gasoline
>226,103 lbs of coal
>517,634 miles driven
>24,557,574 phones charged
> 69.9 tons of waste recycled
We are excited to share that the Texas Urban Sawmill has achieved carbon negativity as a company. This is possible because our operations result in the saving of considerably more carbon in the State of Texas each year than what we emit through our activities. It's a proud achievement for us as we continue to work towards a sustainable future.

By purchasing locally sourced urban wood and rescued lumber, companies can support sustainable forestry practices and reduce their reliance on wood from natural forests. Since urban and rescued wood comes from trees that have already been removed, using this wood can help reduce waste and promote a circular economy while growing the canopies in our forests.
At the Texas Urban Sawmill, we specialize in producing certified rescued lumber and lumber products that are environmentally sustainable. Our unique process involves transforming wood waste into high-quality, climate-smart wood and wood products. Adaptive Tree ReUse & Landfill Waste Diversion
We can have an immediate impact through an aggregative process focused on the reuse of woody material from fallen, diseased, and construction site trees to deconstructed building materials. By monetizing this material and maintaining it within our local supply chains, we benefit our communities through landfill waste reduction, CO2 emissions savings, and incremental tax revenue from the production of sustainable wood based products.
We helped the State of Texas and Turner Construction rescue over 65 old growth trees and kept over 190,000 lbs of CO2e from being released into the atmosphere as GHG emissions. Read more about this ESG sustainability project here.
